What's an ARU?
An additional residential unit: a self-contained second (or third) unit on a residential property, like a basement suite, in-law suite or garden suite.
Do basement suites need fire-rated drywall?
In most cases, yes. Suites need fire separation between units, and that usually means specific fire-rated assemblies in the ceiling and shared walls. Your permit drawings will spell out what's required, and we build to them.
Can you soundproof between the upstairs and the basement?
Yes. We use Rockwool insulation and resilient channel in the ceiling to reduce noise between floors.
Do you work with contractors and investors?
Yes. We work directly with homeowners, and as a sub for builders, GCs and property investors.
